Roy and father Joe in the front seat, Ruth and son Grant in the rear seat. The family moved from Mt Airy, North Carolina in 1889.
In 1891, Joe purchased the 250-acre McKinnon farm on upper Pine Creek
for $6,300, and then established orchards to become self-sufficent.
The farm received Century Farm status in 1997.
